Info on NETL or Morgantown, WV
I may have the opportunity to transfer to a job with the Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL) in Morgantown, WV. I was wondering if anyone here could tell me about either the laboratory or the surrounding area. As our next move will likely be our last, I’m particularly interested in the sustainability aspects: soil, climate, community, and other resources. I think the job would be fabulous -- working on potential Peak Oil solutions (hopefully). Thanks to anyone who can help.

Do not live there, but here is some research for you.
Population: 26,809
In Monongalia County, population 81,866. Land area is 948 square km, for a density of 88 per square km.
Hardiness zone 6A
Climate Zone ZONE 36. Appalachian Mountains
Growing season: May to late Oct. Thanks to greater elevation, summers are cooler and less humid, winters colder (0 degrees to -20 degrees F/-18 degrees to -29 degrees C) than in adjacent, lower zones. Rain comes all year (heaviest in spring). Late frosts are common.
I would not plant anything not rated a 5 hardiness.
Thanks, Rob. Appreciate the info.
I've never been to Morgantown either but I'm from Frederick, MD which is about 2.5 hours away. That whole region of the country is really rich and beautiful year round. Harper's Ferry is near by and offers recreation, history, etc. Be prepared for about 3-4 months of cold with ice and or snow. Ice scraper required.
Ah, the cold and snow would be nice after living in Florida and California for a while now. (I'm from Iowa originally)
It's looking like a pretty nice place...now I just have to make sure I get the job :)
A lot of young people today are being attracted to playing bingo. Bingo, just like lottery is a game of luck and chance.
